It’s safe to say that many people don’t find normal household chores fun at all. You do them simply because you have to and the last thing you want is to live in a dirty house.

Shower glass doors, in particular, can be a pain. Even after a good clean, it’s not uncommon to still find stains on the glass. This can be quite annoying. However, shower glass doors can be cleaned effectively and the only thing you need is to know how.

Keep reading to learn a few tips!

Do It Regularly

If you clean your glass shower doors on a regular basis, you will have an easier time dealing with stains. The biggest mistake people make is to let the soapy water buildup on the glass for months before they take action.

This only makes the stains tougher and in worse case scenarios, the stains may even become permanent. Even though thorough cleaning may remove some of the stains, you will still be left with visible etching. To avoid this, consider wiping down the door every time you get out of the shower. You can use a squeegee or a microfiber cloth to do the job.

Use Squeegees and Microfiber Cloths

As we have hinted above, squeegees and microfiber clothing can be a good way to clean up your glass doors. A squeegee, in particular, can be very effective. This is basically a flat rubber blade designed to resemble a normal car windshield.

It will easily remove anything on the surface of the glass very effectively. You can also find some advanced squeegees that feature suction cups. They are much easier to use and will get the job done better. Microfiber clothing, on the other hand, can also be a good tool.

They are in particular very effective at getting rid of water spotting on the glass. Cloths are also flexible to use, and they can easily reach into any corner, making it easier to clean up any part of the door.

Use Shower Cleaners

Sometimes wiping down the shower after a bath may not be enough. Even though it’s a good thing, you may still need to use other cleaning solutions to get the best results. Consider using a daily shower cleaning agent.

Window and glass cleaners can be very useful. Misting your glass door with these solutions ensures that those hard stains are kept off. Besides, if you do this regularly, it means you won’t have to do any kind of deep cleaning.

Make Your Own Shower Spray

In case you don’t have the time or even the money to buy a misting shower spray from your local store, you can actually make some on your own. Besides, a homemade misting solution is chemical free so it’s good for the environment as well.

Here’s how to make it

  • Start off by mixing a cup of hydrogen peroxide with a half a cup of rubbing alcohol.

  • Add one teaspoon of liquid dish soap and 1 tablespoon of dishwasher rinse to the mixture and pour it into a 32-ounce spray bottle.

  • Fill the rest of the space with water and shake.

  • Do this gently to prevent the solution from foaming.

This should work just as effectively as the available misting agents on the market.

Do Deep Cleaning

Not everyone will be able to keep up with a daily cleaning routine for their glass shower doors. But at some point, you will have to do some deep cleaning. Well, you will need a few important things.

First, a sponge is great for getting rid of the scum. You may also need to buy a conventional degreaser from your local store for the job.

However, it’s best to avoid doing deep cleaning as much as you can. It takes time and may not even get rid of all the stains. Besides, it’s best to leave it to a professional to save you time and effort.
