How to Get a Beautifully Organized Garage in Less Than 7 Days

Have you turned your garage into your own personal dumping ground? Well, a lot of people have and it’s not hard to see why. Even though the space is an integral part of your home, since you spend very little time there, it’s easy to ignore it.

The sad thing is that when you continue to fill your garage with clutter, eventually it will become an eyesore that you won’t want to look at.

But no need to worry, we will help you reclaim your invaluable garage storage in seven days, using a series of simple steps that you can take right away.

You Need a Plan

So, getting rid of clutter and organizing any space may seem easy at first, until you get to it. You will realize that there’s actually a lot of work in there and that’s why you need a plan.

For example, you need to decide how you will be sorting through your things. What will you keep and what will you throw away? Besides, where will some of this stuff go?

While there will be a lot of stuff to throw in the bin, there will also be a lot of valuable items under that mess that will need extra storage. A plan simply helps you to decide how to use your garage wall organizer and other storage options to sort out the clutter.

Start with the Purge

The first day of the plan is literally the great purge. This is where you start to sort through the clutter, keeping valuable stuff, and throwing away the worthless things.

You will also need to decide what can be recycled and what can be donated. The most important thing here is to reduce the clutter by only keeping the stuff you need and getting rid of what you don’t. Depending on the nature of the mess, you can even rent a dumpster to help you out.

Cleaning and Inspection

Once you have managed to remove the clutter from the garage, the next stage is to clean up the entire place. Start off with the floors and head to the garage storage cabinet chamber, making sure that all dirt and debris are removed.

While you are at it, you may also need to inspect the garage for possible mold and mildew infections, water damage, and other issues as well. Use a pressure washer for this job for the best results.

Plan Out the Storage

As soon as the garage is clean and dry, it’s time to organize it. Don’t just do it out of the blue, though. You need a very good plan and it all starts by deciding where everything will go.

Sit down with a pen and paper, draw the layout of your garage, and start assigning storage space to various items.

Ensure that everything is stored in an accessible place in case you need to retrieve it for future use. Remove everything from the floor as well. The garage floor is supposed to be open and free of any stuff.

Deal with the Garage Door

Now that you have fully organized the place and everything looks neat and tidy thanks to your garage tool organization system, it’s time to deal with the garage doors.

There are two types of doors in any garage. The first one lets you and your car in from the outside. And then there’s the other door inside your home. Make sure both of them are in good condition and safe.

Don’t forget how you found yourself in this garage mess in the first place. While the area has plenty of free space, you don’t have to dump everything and anything in there.

Keeping that space clutter-free will make it easier for you to fully utilize it for a wide variety of tasks.
